GOD WITH US
September, 2014
“And Jacob awakened out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this
place; and I knew it not.
(Genesis 28:16 ESV).
God does not dwell in
space; so He therefore is not transported by some missile or ray of light where
He begins and then ends at a certain destination. Rather God contains all
remoteness and all distances in His own great, marvelous being. Then why is it
do we feel Him at a distance?
It is because of
dissimilarity to Him in our nature. We have an unlikeness with which God cannot
commune and call us His children. We sense this difference in us, which is why
God seems remote.
Nearness to God is
not defined by location, time; it is not a spatial thing, having to do with
space. Rather it is spiritual, having to do with nature. That is why we can
pray, “Draw me nearer.”
Jesus said, “Lo, I am
with you always.” God said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” Jacob,
when he first encountered God; in what is known as Jacob’s ladder- arose from
that dream and said, “God is in this place and I didn’t know it.”
While “living this
life” unto Christ; may we forever be conscious that God is with us.
In His service,
